Welcome to ERA

No observing possible due to bad weather? then go for a walk instead Part of the 'magnificent 7' who did.

ERA is a friendly and informal astronomical society. We have approximately 2 dozen members of all ages. Our main purpose is to observe the night sky and to help others get into this absorbing hobby. We have been operating from our current base in Beverley for almost 10 years. We offer a reasonably dark sky in the centre of town. In addition we have a traditional observing site in the country, away from street lights, at Arras Hill above Sancton. This is a site we chose to use some 16 years ago. We have also opened up a second venue at Crabley Lane near Broomfleet which can provide dark skies but with a risk of river fog invading at certain times of the year. ERA is a society of all, ages, abilities and gender so whatever your interest you should fit in. In short - pay us a visit - we will probably show you something new.

Come on down to the Friends Meeting House in Quaker Lane, Woodlands, Beverley on any 3rd Monday of the month (except August). You will be assured of a warm welcome and a view of the sky, weather permitting, through any of a large range of telescopes.
