More about the Sheriffs
Remember we posed a question about how many Brits became a sheriff in the USA? Click here for the details.
We have had a reply from Barbara Wilkinson in Montana. She tells us how one of her great uncles, Robert Widdowfield who hailed from Durham UK, became a sheriff
in Carbon, Wyoming. He was involved with the outlaw, Big Nose George, who was eventually the cause of Robert's death. Check out Big Nose
George on the internet. I think we will do a summary of these events for publication in a future Phoenix. We now have two sheriffs. Are there
any more out there?
Stop Press - EYGS has been contacted by a person in the USA who was born in Utica and knows of the Pickard family.
